The Government of India is developing Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor as a global manufacturing and investment destination utilising the 1500 km long, high capacity western Dedicated Railway Freight Corridor (DFC) as the backbone. In essence, the Delhi – Mumbai Industrial Corridor project is aimed at the development of futuristic industrial cities in India, which can compete with the best manufacturing and investment destinations in the world. The plan is to develop new manufacturing cities, logistical hubs and residential townships along the 1500 km stretch. Incorporating the philosophy of sustainability and development, each manufacturing city will boast of world-class infrastructure, convenient public transport, power management and efficient water and waste management system.
